Review of Vaughan Thomas Ward written by a carer

As a role of a carer, I was treated with respect and was asked to be involved with the meetings every week. The meetings were always informed beforehand and carried out accordingly. The atmosphere at the ward is friendly and I felt a warm welcome every time I visited. I would rather have a sofa facing each other so that patients can chat and talk. As it happened, there is not much room. The medical team are excellent and my son had a good care during his stay. thank you.

I didn’t need to be here and Ifound it very stressful the doctor didn’t listen to me about the medication but the nurses really spent time talking to me and helped me to push for what I felt worked better for me The nurses are all ok Matron tried to always find a solution for me the manager Paul is helpful and they helped me find somewhere to live but I never want to come back

I have been detained eighteen years with no end in sight. On the Care Plan written in March 2019 they said they would continue to look for ways to discharge me - this is not on the Care Plan for July. On the latest Care Plan they have written that if I want help with housing to get in touch with them. I don't want to do that but also the way they behave ie forcing their way into your house without you calling them out and seemingly not giving you any option but to go with them for an indeterminate period of being locked in at the Warneford I feel I could never look into getting private rented accommodation or a mortgage and I don't know if anyone in my position does live in private rented or mortgaged accomodation. I also feel incredibly pressured into doing what Warneford staff and patients and at the very least my family demand of me. I also feel very isolated and if I dare to mention my detention and say I don't need it or the drugs they brutally force me to take I get shouted at. I don't feel there is anywhere I can go for support. And I made to think of the huge amount of pressure everyone puts on me when I do a bank transfer to myself where the banks website says never be pressured into transferring money into someone else's account. I'm not made to do that but I am frequently pressured into taking drugs or being locked up and really I have lost faith in the NHS and human nature. I get no support whatsoever and spend hours writing to the Warneford or about them all to no avail. And the DVLA have told wrote something I know I didn't which is quite concerning.I I want the Warneford and Littlemore to close but no one else does. Also I have been told that one reason I am detained is because I seemed irritable to Dr Shaw in 2015. At the time she didn't ask me about being irritable nor did she say I seemed irritable and I imagine that if I said it about her or the current staff they would deny it but I am not given the opportunity to do that. I don't feel listened to.
